About the United Way of Adams County

Community Impact

Traditionally, United Way’s role has been as the community fundraiser and distributor, but now we’re doing more than that. When the United Way movement first began in Denver more than 100 years ago, its original purpose was to bring people together, not just for fundraising.

We realize that the challenges facing today’s communities, as well as the reality of today’s expanded world of nonprofits, require us to take on other roles. It takes more than just money to change communities and get real results. Our partnerships, community knowledge, corporate relationships AND money are all resources that are brought to bear on our community’s needs.

The United Way of Adams County will continue to raise funds in an annual campaign and provide financial support to agencies and programs that serve local residents. Agencies that receive Untied Way funding are asked to demonstrate how their programs and services make a positive impact on the community. We know that donors don’t want to simply serve as a cash machine for the status quo. They want to know that their contributions are being used wisely to support programs that benefit youth, families and seniors in Adams County. Each year, a volunteer panel reviews the grant applications and makes funding recommendations to the United Way Board.
