Advocacy is a call to action.
It is speaking for those who haven’t found their voice. Your support creates awareness around issues that affect Adams County. People cannot solve problems that they cannot see.
United Way of Adams County engages in public policy advocacy because it expands our community footprint and advances solutions for families that are working hard but struggling to survive. By participating in public policy efforts that coincide with the human service work currently being done in Adams County, United Way can significantly increase the investment made to our community and its residents.
As a pillar of the Adams County community—we have firsthand experience to help guide policymakers as they tackle impossible problems. We are dedicated to being good stewards of the time, resources, and staff available for public policy work. We work with United Way Worldwide to create a unified voice on specific policy issues. For additional policy work, we maintain a strong stance of support for the work already being done by other community-minded leaders and organizations.
Our priority issues are:
- AFFORDABLE HOUSING | We advocate for increased access to stable, affordable, safe housing so families have better access to living-wage jobs and more to spend on groceries, health care and education for themselves and their children.
- EDUCATION- Helping teach and coach the youth to help develop our next generation.
Speak for your community. We provide a nonpartisan platform for people to take action. For more information, contact Jessica Thieme at jessicathieme34@gmail.com or 260.728 2056.
